so for all the cat lovers out there I decided to post this picture up because i think its funny and it shows how fierce the wild cats are around my house. always getting into fights with dogs lol
also i would like to have some critque about this picture or advice basically on how to improve this picture, this was an okay picture with a very low f stop, was wondering if this would have looked better with a higher f stop, or does the blur really bring out the emotion of the picture

As someone who's been studying photography for almost six years, I really find myself enjoying this picture. I love how you centered the brown cat so well - it really draws your eye straight to it. The blurred animals in the distance give the whole picture a very surreal quality, kind of like the cat in the foreground is removed from the action and "too cool to care".
All in all, a really nice picture that's very pleasing to look at. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work! You definitely have an eye for photography and a lot of talent.
(I don't really know much about what qualifies as a good picture, so the stars may be kind of irrelevant) I think the focus being on the cat and thebakground being blurred put the viewer in the position of the cat and helps them see that this photo is from the cat's perspective. While the background is blurred, you can still make out the actions of the dog and the other cat, which give the picture a bit of a story, so you can see how a day in the life of this cat might be like. It displays the personalities of the different animals- the dog is playful and intimidating, the cats are reserved, on guard, slightly fearful, but at the same time not freaked out enough to run or hide. The way the camera is positioned so that the cats are both looking at the dog shows that the dog is the subject of their attention. Overall a pretty amazing photo!
I would have wanted the maximum depth of field possible for this, myself. You have Photoshop, so there are things that can be done. Under 'exposure' there is a slider called 'gamma'. It's a bit like 'contrast' and increasing it with make the picture look paler and may bring out some shadow detail 'Exp[osure' could be increaseda little as well. It still won't look right after that and so the next step would be a cautious use of 'saturation', not more than a 15 points increase. After that it might be possible to sharpen things alittle. Use 'smart shappen' and stop when you can see processing artifacts start to become apparent. That's most of what I can think of...
Ha nice shot! What I love about this picture is that the two cats look exactly like my cats, and my friend has a staffy with markings very similar to the dog.
